Team Requirements
Prior to the 2018 season, in response to a number of forfeits that were occuring due to teams not having enough players to field a team, the AYL Board voted to require team minimums. Team rosters will be evaluated for meeting this requirement. If a club registers a team with less than the minimum, the league reserves the right to deny entry. If you need a waiver to this rule, you must submit a case to the AYL Board. Below are the team minimums:
8U - 6
10U - 10
12U 7v7 - 10
12U Competitive and all 14U - 16
2020 Age Level Rules
AYL uses USL age brackets for eligibility with two notable exceptions:
- Eligibility date ends at the end of our season. For example, if a 12yr old turns 13 March 25th, then he should be playing 14U all season. Most likely this is a 7th grader who should be playing with his classmates in 14U.
- Only 8th graders and below are eligible. For example, a 14yr old Freshman enrolled in a high school curriculum, who turns 15 in May. Although age eligible based on birthday, he is ineligible for AYL as he is high school eligible.
